ILSF water safety volunteers headed out onto Lake Kinneret (the Sea of Galilee) before dawn on their surfboards as part of the water safety team for the 67th Speedo Kinneret swim.
ILSF members patrolled both the 1.6-kilometer and the 3.8-kilometer swimming routes across the southern end of Lake Kinneret, aiding and assisting many of the 8,000 swimmers who came for the family-focused event.
ILSF was an official partner in the event, which is held annually with the sponsorship of ILSF’s strategic partner, Speedo Israel.
In several cases, volunteers responded quickly to several swimmers undergoing serious health emergencies in the water, pulling them to safety so they could be evacuated ashore by the Israel Police or Magen David Adom. All swimmers made it ashore safely.
