Dolphins: Teen water safety education program (ages 13-17)

Our water safety education program for teens (ages 13-17), known as the Dolphins, teaches participants basic surf awareness and surf rescue techniques in a fun-filled environment.

 

Safety and well being

  • Knowledge of the surf environment, including hazards

  • How to enjoy the beach safely with friends

Surf awareness skills

  • Analyzing the surf conditions and waves

  • Techniques for self-survival in the water

  • Entering and exiting the ocean through the wave zone

  • Basic ocean swimming skills

  • Team communication and public awareness

Surf rescue techniques

  • Performing rescues using SLSA-certified equipment & rescue techniques

  • Rescues with tubes (floats)

  • Rescues with boards

First aid & CPR

  • Basic understanding of the human body

  • Basic first aid skills with a focus on preserving life and preventing injury

  • Respond to an emergency situation requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

This program is for proficient swimmers.

​

Upon completion of the full surf rescue course participants receive the ILSF Surf Rescue Certificate.
